INFORMATION ABOUT THE EU

The                                   was not created until 1993, although previous of that, there were different treaties between different European countries, such as The European Coal and Steel Community, in 1958. Thanks to this first treaty, some European countries (France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Western Germany and Italy) started to help each other economically. Step by step, more countries took part in this agreement, that started covering other important topics than economy and trade, such as politics and legislation.

Nowadays, 27 countries are part of the European Union, after the recent exit of Great Britain, or "Brexit", last Friday 31st, January, 2020.

All of the countries that are part of the EU, have to comply to basic human rights, as well as accepted the politics of the European Union. Countries can also choose to use the common European currency, the Euro.

The European Union is one of the biggest economic, politic and juridical alliances in the world, just exceeded by the UN.

It has its own laws, including policies to regulate commerce and free movement of people between the countries of the Union.
